We offer a wide range of support for carers in Calderdale.

Carers can be supported at the lowest level by just registering with us and receiving our information.

At the highest they could be supported by a multi- level approach under the direct guidance and encouragement of a carers caseworker.

Our most important service is A LISTENING EAR. If you need someone to listen- we will.

We are not here 24 hours a day but within office hours we always endeavour to listen to a carer in need.

Carers News

A regular newsletter published by the Project that brings together as much local and national information that carers need to know.  It also includes details of our activities and events as well as some fun items.

Carers Information Service

As well as providing information on local organisations, issues and events, the Project maintains a library of information on national Carers rights and topics.  We also ensure that we have access to all local strategies and plans relating to carers relating to health and social care in Calderdale.

We provide a research service to provide carers with any specialist information that they may require.

Carers Activities and Events

Throughout the year, and dependent upon resources, we provide a variety of healthy and fun activities enabling carers to engage with staff and other carers.  These promote self help links amongst carers but also introduce them to many concepts designed to improve their health and wellbeing.

Examples include:

Events particularly focus on National Carers Week which is held in June each year and national Carers Rights day which is held in December.  These often combine fun elements with promotion of local support and information services as well as providing an opportunity for carers to engage with other, local organisations and the national agenda for carers.

Carers Support Groups

These groups are run by staff members and are designed to give carers a break from their caring responsibilities. They enable carers to be open and honest about their feelings in a safe and supportive environment.

Caseworking

Carers with more complex needs can be allocated to a named caseworker and receive specialised support and/or home visits.

Looking After Me

We offer specific programmes for carers designed to address the issues that carers caring in all situations will encounter.  Carers learn new skills and enjoy working towards a more positive future.

Consultation and Involvement

We work to ensure that carers voices are heard by encouraging consultation and involvement at all levels and with all statutory and voluntary bodies in Calderdale.
