To find out more or attend one of our Carers Support Groups call 01422 369101.
It is important that you call before attending for the first time.
These groups are run by staff members and are designed to give carers a break from their caring responsibilities. They enable carers to be open and honest about their feelings in a safe and supportive environment. These groups run throughout Calderdale on a monthly basis.
Each group is different according to what those carers need and want. Some groups of carers prefer to laugh, joke and generally have a break from their caring role. Other groups prefer to discuss or offload the feelings and emotions that their caring situation brings about.
Nevertheless, at times, serious issues can arise. It may be possible to speak one to one with a staff member at the group, but this does depend on availability. Follow up arrangements can be made.
The Project runs Carers Support Groups throughout Calderdale in Halifax, Lower and Upper Valley, Sowerby Bridge.
If you require a sitter to take care of the person you care for whilst attending groups, or if you require a taxi to attend a group, you must contact us to request this in advance (10 days in the case of sitters) on 01422 369101.
Polite reminder: children and the adults that you care for are not able to attend these groups, or activities, unless specified.
