WE DEFINE A CARER AS SOMEONE WHO IS SUPPORTING A RELATIVE, FRIEND OR NEIGHBOUR WHO CANNOT MANAGE WITHOUT HELP DUE TO ILLNESS OR DISABILITY.

The term carer is defined in The Carers (Recognition and Services Act 1995) to apply to all adults who fulfill the above criteria.  It does not apply to paid care-workers who provide services and or personal care whether paid for via Adult Services, an agency or through Direct Payments. We are a charity that exists for the benefit of all adults who care in Calderdale. Whether they are caring for an adult or child, relative, friend or neighbour, we are here to help. We also work to ensure that carers voices are heard by encouraging consultation and involvement at all levels and with all statutory and voluntary bodies in Calderdale. In addition we provide an advice and information service as well as learning opportunities to all professionals in Calderdale. This enables them to continue supporting carers with the benefit of expert knowledge and best practice.
